Was it a dream, a nightmare, or possibly a badly digested meatball sandwhich?

Berlin, NJ - Well it’s come and gone, the parade of rubes that was Wiffle Ball 2006 finished with a beer and nacho induced belch in the early AM heat of August 6th. The last of the wiffle stalwarts staggered out of the Woodbriar Inn groping their way back to the hole whence they came - at least until next year.

Highlights of the day included a feast, featuring almost every part of our favorite animal, the pig, several kegs of domestic beer, a pitched see-saw battle for the league championship, and climaxing at the Woodbriar Inn’s Karaoke night.

When asked what he thought of his first wiffle ball experience one rookie said, “I like it”.

It’s the time of year when a young man’s fancy turns to… Wiffle Ball.

3 Digit heat indexes be damned, the Wiffle Ball Die Hards of Berlin NJ will gather for their 20th annual Wiffle Ball Tournament, replete with beer, food, insults, and a menagerie of slack-jawed troglodytes so simple that it stymies the imagination.

Says Wiffle Ball scribe, Miles Rival, in his annual Wiffle Ball News Letter:

At 9:30 am, EST, the most famous sporting event in the first week of August in the southeastern corner of Berlin, NJ will sputter to a start, as wiffleballers crawl, limp, strut, and lumber through the gates at Lampe Memorial Stadium to attempt to claim a place in the wiffleball pantheon by imposing their will on a 2/3-oz. plastic ball.
